Born October 22nd,1934 to Nicholas and Virginia Xenakis in Weston, West
Virgina, Georgia grew up with her two older sisters Elsie and Betty.
Georgia was a proud graduate of Lewis County High School Class of '52!
Georgia graduated from Beauticians' school in 1953 and moved to the
Washington DC area where she met her husband Frederick (Mac) B.
McNulty who was from Boston, Mass. Georgia and Mac married on
October 30, 1955, in
Weston, West Virginia. They settled in Vienna,
Virginia and were blessed with two children, Helen McNulty November 30,
1956, and Michael McNulty January 18, 1961.
Georgia was blessed with five grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Nicholas King and Alexandria King Martin are from Helen's first marriage.
Alex is married to Andrew Martin, and they are the proud parents of
Calliope Jane Martin age 3. Michaels three children from his first marriage
are Justine McNulty Fraley, Kenneth Michael McNulty, and Ryan Hazard
McNulty. Justine is married to Luke Fraley, and they are the proud parents
of Lincoln Thomas Fraley age 6, Oliver Hazard Fraley age 4, and Juniper
Aimee Fraley age 8 weeks!
Georgia spent her 20's and early 30's as a homemaker raising Helen and
Michael with her husband. She was devoted to her kids' school and sports
activities. She painted during her younger years, and all her kids and
grandchildren proudly have at least one of her originals hanging in their
homes.
Later in her 30's and until she retired at 56, Georgia worked at Giant Food
in multiple locations in Northern Virginia. She spent most of her time
working retail pharmacy and non-food items for Giant. In 1991 she and
Mac retired and moved to Surfside Beach, South Carolina.
Georgia and Mac were devoted followers of the Saint Nicholas Orthodox
Church in Surfside Beach then later in Myrtle Beach. They had many
friends through the Church who stood by Georgia and helped her through
Mac's death in October 2005. Georgia remained at the same house in
Surfside Beach until 2019. She loved her gardens and flowers surrounding
her house and she walked in their backyard pool everyday (weather
permitting!) for all her time in South Carolina.
She relocated to
Raleigh, NC in 2019 to the Wakefield Gardens Senior
Living Facility which is close to her daughter Helen and her husband Norm.
Georgia spent her final years as a resident of Wakefield Gardens.
Georgia enjoyed taking care of her home as well as her gardens and
flowers. A meticulous homemaker, she could make the most of all the
living space in her homes through the years. In the Greek tradition as was
her heritage everything could fit into her house with a little love and
wonderful long-term caring.
She was a devout Greek Orthodox and practiced her faith throughout her
life. She was a student of the Church and prided herself on knowing and
sharing the teachings and dogma of the Greek Orthodox.
Georgia was loved by so many and will be missed by everyone who knew
her.
Services will be held at Saint Nicholas Orthodox Church in Myrtle Beach,
SC. There will be a viewing from 1-1:30 at the Church followed by a
service from 1:30 - 2:30. A graveside service at Hillcrest in Conway, SC as
she is laid to rest next to her husband Mac.
