Georgia Mary Wren, age 97 of Alvin, Texas, passed away Saturday, March 29, 2025 in Houston, Texas. Georgia was born on September 1, 1927 in Wallis, Texas and was a resident of Alvin, Texas for over 50 years. She worked for many years in the cafeteria for the Friendswood and Lamar Consolidated school districts and was a member of St. John's Catholic Church. She spent many years in the American Legion Women's Auxiliary as a member and officer. Georgia was preceded in death by her husbands Edward Nowak and Bill Wren, parents, Mary Stavinoha Melnar and Alfonse Melnar, sisters Mildred (Charlie) Janik and Helen (Jerry) Ondruch, brothers Alfonse Melnar (Madalyn) and Bernard (Joan) Melnar, son-in-law Glenn Martisek, nephew Bernard Melnar, step grandchildren Chaz Wren and Brittany Milstead.
Georgia is survived by her daughters, Geraldine (Gerri) Martisek, Mary Lubojacky and husband Dan, Diane Harper and husband Randy, son Wayne Nowak and wife Carol, and step daughter Laurie Morris, grandchildren, Danna (Tom) Stensgaard, David (Amber) Martisek, Laura Branam, Bryan (Haley) Martisek, Michelle (Jeremy) Rohan, Renda (Andy) Barr, Misty Harper, step grandchildren, Will Wren, Jess Wren, Joseph Wren, Brandon Dominguez, Matthew Morris, Bethany Smith, Melissa Wagoner, great-grandchildren, Taylor Stensgaard, Jacob Stensgaard and Angelica Martisek, Aidan Barr, 13 step-great-grandchildren, numerous other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held on Sunday April 6, 2025, from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 PM at Scott Funeral Home. Funeral mass will be held Monday, April 7, 2025 at 10:30 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Alvin. Interment will follow in the Resurrection cemetery in Pearland, Tx.
Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to St. John's Catholic Church Altar Society, Christian Radio Station KSBJ (Houston), or charity of your choice.
