Georgianne Chakiris

On August 12, 2023, Georgianne passed away at the age of 86 in San Antonio, TX on a remarkable evening of the shooting stars of the Perseid meteor shower. Georgianne was born in San Antonio, Texas to Theodore and Louise. She grew up in San Antonio, where she attended Edison High School and then studied classical piano at Our Lady of The Lake University for three years. For many years she played the organ and directed the choir at the St. Sophia Greek Orthodox Church.
She went on to teach piano for over 40 years. She was also a make-up artist, an animal lover and most of all an avid gardener. One year she was president of the Men's Garden Club of San Antonio.
She is survived by her three children, Lynn Nigro, Gina Nigro and Ted Nigro; her grandchildren Christopher, Santiago, Sergio and Caitlyn; and her dog Lilianne.
At Georgianne's request, instead of a funeral, we will gather in her home for a garden party to celebrate her life. The family will notify loved ones and friends in the future when the ceremony is scheduled. As Georgianne was a lifelong lover of sharing from her garden, the family has asked that in lieu of sending flowers, please plant something beautiful in your garden in her memory.
