Georgios Vailakakis, Sr., passed away peacefully in his home on August 15, 2021, at the age of 77. He is survived by his children Georgios, Jr., (Dawn) and Stelios (Haley) and grandsons: Albert, Alex, Georgios, III. Also survived by his brother, several nephews, nieces, & godchildren. Preceded in death by his wife Helen Christidis Vailakakis & his parents. Georgios was born in Gavdos, Greece on December 19, 1943. He was raised & educated in Greece. After serving in the Greek army as a mechanic, he became a seaman as a Master electrician. He later started his business, Greek Seaman's Tours, which catered to mariners & the maritime community. Georgios was a simple man who valued his strong beliefs, ethics, service & family. As a father, he led by example and likewise taught the same about life, electronics, mechanics & cars not to mention his witty humor & story-telling. "BABA Goodbye with our eternal love. Thank You for being a great father, everything we are & everything we have." Family & friends are invited to attend the Funeral Service on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, for 11:00 a.m. at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 1200 Robert E Lee Blvd, New Orleans, LA 70122.
