Gerald Baker Obituary

Published by Legacy on Aug. 8, 2025.
Gerald Bryce Baker, loving son, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on Friday, July 25, 2025, at the age of 74, in Plano, Texas. Gerald was born in Charlotte, North Carolina, on February 23, 1951, to Bryce and Lula Baker. He also enjoyed living in Asheville, North Carolina, and McCoy, Colorado, and was currently residing in Greenville, Texas. He graduated from Independence High School in 1969 and from Belmont Abbey College in 1973, with a degree in Accounting. His favorite activities included photography, reading, spending time in nature, studying his Bible, and spending time with his family. He is survived by his sister, Elaine Baker Hamilton, of Greenville, Texas; brother, Ervin and his wife Mary of Mint Hill, North Carolina; niece, Scarlett Hamilton Royce and her husband Bob of Berryville, Virginia, along with their children, Emma, Austin, Ben, with his fiance Olivia and their daughter, Josephine, Ava, and Maya; and his nephew, Patrick Hamilton of Longview, Texas, and his wife, Carmen, along with their children, Kendall Irvin and her husband, Jake, Hallie Stewart and her husband, Conner, Luke, and Lainey; and many loving cousins and friends. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Bryce and Lula Mae Baker. Gerald was a humble and devoted follower of Jesus Christ. He had an avid love of the great outdoors and enjoyed camping, hiking, and photographing God's glorious creation. He had an entrepreneurial spirit. He was a willing servant to anyone who needed him. His family was overjoyed to celebrate his baptism in March 2025. In accordance with Gerald's wishes, there will be no formal funeral or memorial service. He desired instead to be remembered in the quiet moments, in the beauty of nature, the pages of Scripture, and the laughter of family. His life was marked by simplicity, servanthood, generosity, and a steadfast faith. His legacy will live on in the hearts of those who loved him. From his own words: "I want to successfully live out the remaining 'x' days of my life where I am remembered as one who is a good friend, faithful, honest, humble and meek, with God as his every-moment companion." -GB In lieu of flowers, the family would request that any donations be made to either of the following worthwhile causes: Ridgecrest Baptist Church Building Fund 6801 Wesley Street Greenville, Texas 75402 Sacred Heart Ministries P. O. Box 400 Harrah, Washington 98933
