Gerald Herbert Baker, age 98, of Anderson, SC, formerly of Middleburg Hts., OH, passed away on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at his home.

Born January 8, 1928, in Philo, OH, he was the son of the late Alma Ellsworth Baker and Flo Marie Hardtla Baker.

He is survived by his daughter, Marcia Chiaverini and her husband Jim V. Chiaverini; grandchildren, Max Chiaverini, Talia Hofner, Matthew Coyle, Tom Treadway, and Heather Treadway Johnson; and son-in-law, David Hofner.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn Jane Coleman Baker; brother, Robert Baker; daughters, Robin Suzanne Baker, Linda Jean Treadway, and Terri Ann Hofner; and grandchildren, Adam Coyle and Tyler Hofner.

Gerald was a graduate of Ohio University where he received his Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering. He was formerly a systems analyst with ALCOA Manufacturing. He was a proud veteran of the United States Army where he earned the rank of Sergeant. Gerald was an avid sports fan and especially loved his Cleveland teams, the Cavaliers, Browns, and Guardians, and the Ohio State Buckeyes. He was also a Clemson Tigers fan where his grandson Max attended. He enjoyed boating and being in the outdoors. Gerald was a member of Pleasant Hills United Methodist Church in Ohio where he was actively involved when his health allowed.

No services are planned.

The family request no flowers and would suggest memorial donations be made to the Veterans Association of America, PO Box 309 Audubon Station, New York, NY10032.
