Gerald "Jerry" Allen Benedix, 70, of Laporte, passed away peacefully Wednesday, June 4, 2025, at Edgewood May Creek in Walker.
Jerry was born in Crosby on May 4, 1955, to Carl and Marlys (Aamodt) Benedix and grew up in the Baudette area. He later moved to the Laporte area. Jerry received his GED in 1972 so he could join the Army. Jerry was in the Army from 1972-1988.
He met the love of his life, Margaret (Kathy) Benedix, and they were married July 19, 1985, in Louisiana. They moved to Minnesota in 1989, and he worked at Red Wing Shoe, Siebold Co., Bolt Construction, Lamb Weston/RDO and Stille Havn Hus.
Jerry enjoyed doing woodworking in his spare time, fishing and spending time with family and friends.
Jerry is survived by his daughters, Brenda Holland of Laporte, and Michele (Cy) Ross of Clarksville, TN; sons John (Stacy) Miller of Shevlin and Chris Miller of Red Wing; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three brothers, Galen (Michele) Benedix of Nixa, MO, Gordy Benedix of Paris, TX, and Grant Benedix of Bemidji; sisters Glenda Dailey of Cass Lake, and Gina Kloehn of Laporte.
Jerry is proceeded in death by his mother, Maryls Benedix; father Carl Benedix; grandmother Emma Morrill; grandfather William "Bill" Morrill; brother Greg Benedix; and nephew Corey Benedix.
Services for Jerry will be June 13 with visitation at 10 a.m. and the service at 11, all to be held at Trinity Lutheran Church in Laporte with Pastor Tony Kerr officiating. Honorary urnbearers are all of Jerry's grandchildren. A luncheon will follow the service. Military honors will be accorded by the Laporte Legion Honor Guard.
