Gerald W. Bomkamp

Gerald William Bomkamp, 90, of Highland, WI, passed away Saturday, Dec 14, 2024, at home, surrounded by Alice and their children. Gerald was born in Clyde, WI, on August 24, 1934, to William and Laura (Kreul) Bomkamp, one of 11 children. He graduated from Avoca schools in 1952. On June 29, 1955, he married Alice Suda at St Joseph's Catholic Church in Avoca, WI. Together with Alice, Gerald worked and farmed in the Avoca area and Farmer's Ridge Road outside of Highland until moving to town in 1980. After that they bought into and ran Dee Gee's and then Tri Star Pallets, both in Highland.
Gerald was a polite, kindhearted man and caring husband, dad, grandpa, and great-grandpa. He loved playing cards, watching the Packers and Brewers, woodworking, and spending time with his family. He enjoyed all 38 of the annual Bomkamp summer getaways, campouts at Blackhawk Lake, or just afternoons in the yard. And let's not forget the annual summer hayrides. Gerald was a member of Knights of Columbus, Highland Lions, and White Eagles.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Delbert, Evroul, Marion, Bernard, Lauren; sisters, Eudelma, Rosemary, Magdalen, Bernadine; and his loving daughter-in-law Amy.
Gerald is survived by his wife of 69 years Alice – 8 children, Terry (Teresa) and children: Justin(Colleen), Lindsey (Jake), and Michael (Sarah); Tim and children: Brandon (Hilary), Bronson (Cassie), Blake (Jami), and Brenna; Tom (Nancy) and children: Justin (Aneet) and Grant (Cara); Laurie (Greg Zimmerman) and children: Lance (Tori), Lucas (Sasha), and Casandra (Troy); Mary (Jim Yager) and children: Andrew, Jared (Megan), Caleb (Abriana), and Isaac; Sue (Tom Yanna) and children: Jordan, Brittnee, and Carlee (Ethan); Pam (Rob Heen) and children: Arik, Jacob (Katelyn), and Will; and Patty (Bill Schuppener); 15 great-grandchildren; brother, Bob (Alice); sisters-in-law Joan Bomkamp and Fay Bomkamp; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, December 21, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. at Ss. Anthony & Philip Catholic Church in Highland, WI, with burial to follow at St. Anthony Cemetery. Visitation will be held before mass from 9:00 a.m. until 10:15 am at the church. McGuire-Peterson-Houck Funeral Home, Highland, is assisting the family with their arrangements.
