Gerald Warren "Pops" Boudreaux, 85, passed away peacefully on October 21, 2025. A lifelong resident of
Plaquemine, Louisiana, he was born on November 25, 1939. He spent most of his life in Turnerville ("Old Plaquemine"), where he built deep roots and lifelong friendships.
From a young age, Gerald displayed the strong work ethic that would define his life. He began working as a newspaper delivery boy for the Iberville South, later as a stock boy at Roth's Grocery, and held many other jobs throughout the community. He was a proud graduate of St. John School, Class of 1957. Gerald served his country in the Army National Guard and later became a proud member of Local Union 198 Plumbers and Pipefitters. He was a pipefitter by trade and retired from Jacobs Engineering (UMC & JE Merit) after more than 35 years, where he worked "the window" as a recruiter, helping put thousands of skilled tradesmen to work. His dedication, fairness, and humor earned him the respect and affection of all who knew him.
On October 19, 1963, Gerald married the love of his life, Sharon Kay Smothers Boudreaux, and together they shared 62 years of devotion, laughter, and family life. He was the proud father of four children, Brian Boudreaux (Edna), John Boudreaux (Pam), Pamela Boudreaux Boesch (A.C. Ferachi), and Victoria Boudreaux Bueche (Coan Jr.), who were his pride and joy.
He was lovingly known as "Pops" to his grandchildren; Joshua (Jessica), Victor, Anastasia, and Nona (Jamie) Boudreaux, Brandon Walsh (Haley), Tristan, Seth, and Noah Boudreaux, Caleb Boesch and Carrie Grace Blanchard (Blake), Jacob Raffray, Angelle Bueche, Kaylyn Carville (Garrett), Sara Posey (Dylan), and Anna Raffray. Pops was also blessed with great-grandchildren, Cayden and Cambree Posey, Jack and Maggie Carville, Reese and Callie Raybourn, Sophie and Beaux Walsh, and Anthony Blanchard, who brought endless joy to his later years.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Victor and Lucy Lambert Boudreaux; father and mother-in-law, Thomas and Maydell Parker Smothers; brother, Ridley Boudreaux; and beloved twin great-granddaughters, Caroline and Charlotte Carville. He is survived by his wife, Kay; children and grandchildren; brother, Robert Boudreaux; sister, Patricia Blanchard; brother and sister-in-law, Tommie and Sandra Smothers; and countless family and friends who will forever remember his kind heart, laughter, stories, and love.
Pops' laughter was infectious, and his spirit unforgettable. With his white beard and twinkling eyes, he was often mistaken for Santa Claus; a comparison that suited him perfectly. Always smiling, jolly, and kind, he brought warmth wherever he went. He cherished his family deeply, loved his community, and was happiest surrounded by the people he loved. Pops instilled those same deep roots and values of hard work with his entire family; a legacy that will continue for generations to come.
Gerald loved to sing to his family and had a special song for his great-grandchildren; each a reflection of his love, humor, and joy in being their "Pops." He loved spending evenings playing cards with his close friends, sharing plenty of laughs and stories along the way.
To know Pops was to love him and to be loved by him was one of life's greatest gifts.
A visitation will be held at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, Plaquemine on Friday, October 24, 2025, from 9:00 AM until Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM, celebrated by Father Martin Lawrence. Entombment will follow at Grace Memorial Park, Plaquemine.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Iberville Parish Animal Shelter, 59815 Bayou Rd,
Plaquemine, LA 70764.
The family extends heartfelt gratitude to his long-time physicians, Dr. Gerard Falgoust and Dr. David Hastings, for their years of compassionate care and for always treating him like family. A special thank you also to Bridgeway Hospice for the comfort and kindness they provided during Pops' final days.
