Gerald L Buchanan Sr.

Gerald Lester Buchanan Sr., 63, of Greencastle, passed away on Saturday December 6, 2025 in

York, PA.

Born January 20, 1962 in Chambersburg, PA, he was a son of the late Harry and Delores

Rosenberry Buchanan.

Gerald attended James Buchanan High School. He worked as a painter for Grove Manufacturing

and Letterkenny Army Depot. Gerald enjoyed hunting, gardening, camping, and going to tractor

shows. He loved spending time with his family and enjoyed supporting his grandchildren in

their sports and activities.

Gerald was a member of the Mercersburg Legion Post 517 and the Greencastle Church of God.

Gerald is survived by his wife of 36 years, Esther McCullough Buchanan, a son, Gerald Buchanan

and his wife Amanda, a daughter, Emily Hammond and her husband David, 6 grandchildren:

Brooklynn, Ricky, Charles, Lexi, Lance, and Sage, a brother, Melvin Buchanan, a sister, Lois

Buchanan, and many nieces and nephews.

Gerald was preceded is death by his brother, Jay Buchanan.

A memorial service will be 3:00 PM on Saturday at Fries Funeral Home in Mercersburg with

Pastor Floyd Myers officiating. There will be a viewing 2 hours prior to the service from 1:00 –

3:00 PM at the funeral home.
