Gerald Clement Carter, of Somerset, Kentucky, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2025, at the age of 90. Born on January 25, 1935, in Eubank, Kentucky, Gerald lived a life rooted in faith, family, and service.
Gerald was the beloved husband of Linda Brown Carter for 69 years. Together they built a strong and loving family that includes their four children: Jimmy Carter (Dianna), Jerry Carter (Tamara), Marlana Dick (Samuel), and John Carter (Theresa). He was a devoted grandfather to eight grandchildren-Samantha Gides (Patrick), Christie Massey (Justin), Jordan Carter (Krista), Amanda Conner (Alex), Jaci Phelps (Logan), Dakota Carter (Aleasha), Cora Jones (Matt), and Savannah Dick-and a proud great-grandfather to thirteen great-grandchildren.
He is also remembered by his brother Kenneth Carter (Norma) of Northern Kentucky and his sister Clarice Reece (Harold Frey) of Illinois. Gerald leaves behind a host of nieces and nephews who cherished his presence in their lives.
Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Loranza and Cora Carter; three brothers-Harold Carter, T.J. Carter, and Curtis Carter; and two sisters-Cloa Fulton and Colleen Dobbs.
A man of unwavering faith, Gerald served as a preacher for the Church of Christ for over 65 years. His dedication to ministry touched countless lives across generations. Through sermons delivered with conviction and compassion, he offered guidance, comfort, and spiritual strength to those around him. His legacy within the Church community is one of steadfast devotion and humble leadership.
Those who knew Gerald remember him as a kind man who loved his family dearly. His life was a testament to the values he preached-love, humility, perseverance, and faithfulness. In passing, he has now heard the words he spent his life looking forward to: "Well done, my good and faithful servant."
May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him and continue to inspire those whose lives he touched.
