Kittery- Gerald (Jerry) L. Drew, 82, of Busdick Drive died on March 22, 2024, at his home surrounded by his loving family following a long period of declining health.
Born on March 10, 1942, a son of the late Gordon and Ethel Drew. He was raised in York and attend local schools, graduating from York High School.
Jerry met and married his. Loving wife of sixty-one years Carol (Gunnison) Drew and together they made their home in Kittery and raised their family. Jerry and Carol enjoyed many years camping seasonally in PEI.
He worked early in life as a carpenter for his brother in Pepperrell Massachusetts, later as a mechanic at Howard's Service Station in Kittery, Cainbro Construction Co. on the I-95 Piscatqua Bridge Project, at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, McFarland's, Martins and Bolzs Garages and McCrillis Bus Company as well as time spent as a custodian for the Kittery School Department.
An avid sportsman, Jerry enjoyed hunting at Moosehead with his brother Maynard, and enjoying raising Brittany Spaniels especially his hunting dogs Jake, Cooper, and Tucker. He spent a tremendous amount of time revitalizing the trap shooting range at the South Berwick Rod and Gun Club and was an award-winning trap shooter.
He enjoyed crafting bird houses and gifted many to family and friends over the years. He also spent many years as a member of the Kittery Fire Department.
He is survived by his loving wife Carol of Kittery, sons, Brian and his wife Laura of Lebanon Maine, and Stephen of Kittery, Son in law Michael Grogan of South Berwick, grandchildren, Cassidy, Nicholas, Cameron, Brennan and Brandon Drew, Dustin Dobson and Wesley and his wife Erin Grogan and Ryan and his wife Jordan Grogan and a brother Richard Drew. He was predeceased by his parents, daughter Tracy Grogan and his brother Maynard Drew. Special thanks to Cornerstone Hospice for the care they provided to Jerry.
Friends are invited to visit with Jerry's family on Saturday April 6, 2024, from 10am to noon. A funeral will be celebrated at noon in the JS Pelkey and Son Funeral Home 125 Old Post Road Kittery, Maine 03904. Online condolences may be made by visiting www.jspelkeyfuneralhome.com, In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his honor to a charity of choice.
