Gerald Lorance Factor age 59, passed away Tuesday, January 30, 2024 in Seminole, OK.
He was born August 27, 1964 in Pawnee, OK to Tommy Factor and Francey Manley.
Gerald was raised by his father Tommy and his mother Darlene Snow Factor in the Cromwell area. He attended Butner School, graduating with the class of 1982. Later in life from 2011-2017 he served on the Butner School Board, several of those years as President. Gerald served in the Army in 1986. He then worked for KML&B drilling company with his cousin Rusty Smith. They never knew what the Smith Brothers were going to have them doing. One day the could be in Shawnee working at Allen Bradley and the next on a drilling rig in Sasakwa. There were times when they were even trying to try out their cowboy skills by breaking race horses.
In 1976 the family moved to a small farm and Gerald and his siblings learned to not ever say "we are bored". That meant dad was getting on the tractor and the kids followed behind picking up rocks. With all the land dad felt we needed to have a garden. Acres of potatoes, corn, green beans, and black-eyed peas, and a two acre are of tomatoes, onion and peppers. Well during the summer if the kids fought, mom would send us out to the garden to pull weeds in the mud and we knew there would be a mud fight. With all those vegetables we learned how to pick, clean, snap, can, and freeze so many vegetables. We also learned to eat lots of fresh vegetables during that time. It wasn't uncommon on a Friday or Saturday for the barn yard to be full of kids throwing cow chips at each other. Some of those cow chips were dried and some of those was fresh.
Having been raised on the farm, Gerald was taught how to drive the tractor to be able to plow the ground, plant grain, cut and bail hay, and even how to haul and stack hay. In the small community of Cromwell there was always someone who needed help on their farm. It was usually helping Carl Jo to work cattle on the Lindley's farm or learning from Calvin Hill how to raise good grain. Gerald was willing to learn and to help out.
Gerald also loved his show animals but always knew not to get too attached because one day they would end up as a hamburger for dinner or ham for breakfast. Gerald also had a love for his coon dog named Hawk. Gerald's best four-legged friend in the past few years had been Tipsy. She loved Gerald and was very protective of him.
Gerald loved the farm and spending time at the pond fishing or in the woods deer hunting.
Gerald found true love in the birth of his daughters Lilly and Feather. Gerald loved teaching the girls about the sports they was involved in and just spending time with them. Gerald loved being able to show his girls the love for the land and to teach them how to fish at the pond. And to be able to spend family time in the evening teaching them to fish and cooking hot dogs and smores over the fire. The family time with them was the best time for him. He loved the Fourth of July holiday. He enjoyed helping Steve and Carmen set up for the holiday and being able to play the games with Lilly and Feather.
He is preceded in death by his birth mother, Francis Manley; his mother Darlene Snow Factor; brother, Keith Factor; paternal grand parents, John and Lougene Factor; maternal grandparents, Herman and Ruth Snow Smith.
Gerald is survived by his daughters, Lilaquois (Lilly) Darlene, and Feather (Rose) Dawn Factor of Fort Worth, TX; mother of his daughters, Melissa Martinez; father Tommy Factor and wife Pat of Ada, OK; sister, Michelle Hays and husband Rodney of Tulsa, OK, Lori Factor of Ada, OK, along with numerous aunts, uncles, nephew, nieces, cousins, other relatives, and friends.
