Gerald Fearing was born on December 2, 1934, in Glenwood, Minnesota the son of Lester and Alice (Flynn) Fearing. He lived in Glenwood with his parents until he was old enough to drive a tractor and then moved to Villard to help on a family farm. Gerald graduated from Villard High School.
Gerald met and married Patricia Whiting on March 2, 1957. After their marriage he was sent to Hawaii to serve his country in the United States Army. Pat joined him in Hawaii shortly after he was stationed there. The couple moved back to Minnesota upon his discharge and lived and raised their three children in Alexandria.
During his life Gerald worked for Ludke and Henry’s Foods delivering, warehousing and selling to different grocery stores in the area. He also enjoyed painting for people in the community and doing lawn service and odd jobs, for friends and his family. He told his son, Scott sell that lawn mower I take care of mowing your lawn – end of discussion.
Gerald died on Saturday, July 19, 2025. He is survived by his children: Timothy (Debbie) Fearing, Shelley (Kyle) Diekman, Scott (Charlotte) Fearing; 8 grandchildren: Jeremy (Kayla) Fearing, Joshua (Kendra) Fearing, Jesslyn (Wade) Traphagen, Pamela Wilson, Katie (Tyler) Malotky, Gordon (Danielle) Diekman, Kylie (Nate) Vold, Nolan Zumhofe; 13 great grandchildren, 1 great grandchild; 2 sisters: Cheryl (Lyle), Cindy (Gary); two sister-in-laws: Hope, Sharon (John); 3 brother-in-laws: Lyle, Gary, John and many nieces, nephews.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, July 24, 2025, 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM at the Anderson Funeral Home with visitation continuing on Friday, July 25, 2025, 12:00 – 1:00 PM at the United Methodist Church in Alexandria with Funeral Service at 1:00 PM. Burial at Kinkead Cemetery. Arrangements are with the Anderson Funeral Home. www.andersonfuneral.net
