It is with great sadness, that we announce the passing of Gerald "Jerry" Fisher on August 21st 2024. He was 93 years old and was surrounded by his family and friends.
Jerry was born in Mansfield, Ohio to Sherman and Gladys Fisher on March 28, 1931. He had 4 siblings with him being the second to the youngest, Don, Doris, Charlie and Gaylord. At the age of 17 Jerry moved to Colorado and enlisted into the Army. He met the love of his life Evelyn Snyder at the Derby skating rink. On February 1st, 1951 they got married. and later had 4 kids. They had 3 boys Rick, Randy and Rod who were all born at Fitzsimons Medical Center in Aurora and 1 girl Brenda who was born in Panama.
While in the Army dad was a member of the Army Chemical Division 216th. During his time in the Military, he wasa involved with 16 atomic test blasts at the Neveda test site. In June of 1978, Jerry retired from the Army after 21 years as an E-7 SFC. During his 21 years, the family was stationed in Panama, Georgia, Alaska, Nevada and Denver. When he was transferred to Alaska we drove from Georgia to Anchorage Alaska. After retiring from the Army dad started a career with Ford Motor Company at the Parts Depot in Denver. He retired from Ford after 20 years. He later got involved in his community, and became the Mayor of Lochbuie for 2 years.
Jerry had many hobbies and interests. He enjoyed fishing, camping and traveling with his family, friends, grandkids, and great grandkids. His favorite thing to do was buying campers and fixing them up and selling them. When the family was stationed in Panama and then Alaska he coached baseball. During that time they won many championships. His greatest Life Lesson was, Tolerance and Forgiveness.
Jerry is survived by his son Rick (Tami), Rod (Susan), Brenda (John) Hishinuma, 5 grandchildren, Ryan, Kimberly (Jamie) Wallace, Bryanna (Joshua) Conde, Tyler and Tami (Steve) Lomax, 5 great grandkids Kash, Kaylynn, Raea, Dustin, and Dillon and 3 great great grandkids Nevaeh, Kaselynn, and Reagan. He is preceded in death by his wife Evelyn, his son Randy, both of his parents Sherman and Gladys, one brother Don, one sister Doris, and one step sister Qwen, and his dog Ginger.
