Dennis Fisher, age 80, of Decorah, Iowa passed away peacefully on Monday, September 8, 2025, at Gundersen Health Systems in La Crosse, Wisconsin.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 7, 2025, at Hauge Lutheran Church, 3147 Middle Hesper Road, with Pastor Randy Kittelson presiding. Burial will be in the church cemetery with full military rites.

Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. on Monday, October 6, 2025, at Helms Funeral Home, 306 E Water Street, Decorah, Iowa. There will be no visitation before the service on Tuesday morning.

He was born on August 20, 1945, in Decorah, the son of Norman and Edna (Severson) Fisher.

Dennis graduated from Decorah High School in 1963. Following high school, he worked a short time at DECO Products before joining the Navy during the Vietnam War. While in the Navy, he was assigned to a Naval Destroyer, the USS Vogelsang, where he was a machinist.

Dennis married Marcia Eggen while on leave in 1965. Following his time in the Navy, he returned to Decorah and his job at DECO as a tool and die maker. He was employed at DECO for over 40 years until his retirement in 2007.

In his spare time, he enjoyed helping his dad, Norman, on the farm, working on his two GTOs, and playing cards in Burr Oak with friends. In his earlier years, he enjoyed hunting and fishing with friends and family.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marcia, one son, Brian (Heather) Fisher, daughter Manda (Brian) Bolick, grand-daughters Madilynn, Gracie, and Cora Fisher, along with bonus grandchildren Michelle (Josh) Hoffman, Jacob (Britt) Sander, Andrea Sander, and one great-grand-daughter, Chloe Hoffman.

Dennis is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Betty.
