Gerald Dean Fordham, Sr., a cherished soul known for his loving nature and kind heart, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2025, in Augusta, GA. Born on July 2, 1968, in Baltimore, Maryland, Gerald's life was a testament to the strength and warmth of his spirit.
Gerald grew up in a close-knit family and was predeceased by his parents, Wyndell and Rita Libby Fordham, as well as his brothers, Mike and Randy Fordham. His legacy continues through his beloved children: Gerald Fordham Jr. (Tiffany) of Eastman, Ashley Thornton (Tony) of Wrightsville, Jeremy Fordham of Dublin, and Harlee Fordham of Uvalda. His twelve grandchildren, who were the light of his life, will carry forward the joy and love he bestowed upon them. Gerald also leaves behind several nieces and nephews, who will fondly remember their uncle's guidance and affection.
For many years, Gerald dedicated himself to his work as a truck driver, a profession that allowed him to touch the lives of countless individuals across the country. His commitment to his faith was evident to all who knew him, as he was a devoted attendee of Pinehurst Drive Baptist Church. Gerald's Christian beliefs shaped his life and actions, inspiring those around him to live with compassion and grace.
An avid fisherman, Gerald found solace and joy in the tranquility of nature. He was also an enthusiastic fan of drag racing, a passion that he shared with friends and family alike. His love for these hobbies was only surpassed by his love for his family. Gerald was a loving father and grandfather, whose greatest pleasure was spending time with his children and grandchildren, creating memories that would last a lifetime.
Gerald's life was characterized by the love he had for others. He was a pillar of strength and kindness in his community, always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear. His unwavering support and unconditional love for his family were the hallmarks of his character.
As we bid farewell to Gerald Dean Fordham, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and love. A graveside service will be held at Snowhill Baptist Church Cemetery at 11:00 AM on October 17, 2025.
The family will receive friends on Thursday evening at Townsend Brothers Funeral Home from 6:00PM- 8:00 PM.
Rev Jason Patterson and Mr. Keith Brooks will officiate.
Jack White, Charlie Fordham, Jonathan Howell, Mike Sheffield, Gabriel Wooten, and Jason Leverett will serve as pallbearers. Brian Leverett, Peyton Leverett, Cam Brantley, and Duane Usry will serve as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made in honor of Gerald to Great Oaks Bank in Eastman, GA to help with cemetery cost, the remaining funds will be donated to Pinehurst Drive Baptist Church.
