Gerald Frederick

Gerald Gene Frederick, age 81, of Wells, MN died Friday, September 29, 2017 at St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, MN, peacefully surrounded by his family. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, October 3, at 10:30 AM, at Open Doors United Methodist Church in Wells, MN, with Pr. Paul Woolverton officiating. Visitation will be Monday, October 2, from 5:00 PM – 7:00 PM at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells, MN, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Interment will be at Rosehill Cemetery in Wells at a later date. Gerald was born March 19, 1936 the son of William and Mildred (Gaines) Frederick. He grew up in a loving family with his brothers Donald and Larry and sister Dorothy. Gerald worked at Stampers, Matz's Fur Farm and then Wilson and Co. for many years. He was united in marriage to Carmen Burns and to this union two children were born, Bruce and Julie. The couple later divorced. Gerald was a gentle and loving man who enjoyed spending time with family and found his special calling by visiting many friends and helping others. He also enjoyed gardening, finding special treasures at garage and estate sales, watching MN sports and caring for his pet dogs. He especially enjoyed being a great-grandpa to Adi, Grace and Aaron. Gerald is survived by son Bruce and wife Joyce Frederick of Wells, MN; grandchildren: Adam and wife Amanda Frederick of Eden Prairie, MN, Jill and husband Adam Miller of Algona, IA, and Krista and husband Kyle Muhlenbeck of Sioux Falls, SD; great-grandchildren: Adi Frederick, Grace Miller and Aaron Miller; brother Donald and wife Eleanor Frederick, sister Dorothy Garver; special friends: Barney (Coco) Diaz, Dennis and Dianne Koziolek and their children Melissa, Nick and Bethany; many nieces, nephews and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents: William and Mildred Frederick; daughter Julie Frederick; brother Larry and wife Joyce Frederick.
