Gerald Gardner, age 84, of Herman, Minnesota passed away Thursday, August 17, 2023 at his residence in Herman.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, August 22, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. at the Bainbridge Funeral Home in Herman, Minnesota with Fr. Stanley Wieser officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to service time at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Alexandria, Minnesota. Military Rites will be provided by the C. Walter Larson American Legion Post #378.

Gerald Marvin Gardner was born on July 6, 1939 in Wheaton, Illinois to Allie and Elvira (Fank) Gardner. He graduated from high school in 1957.  On July 23, 1960 he was married to his wife Kathleen in Hammond, Wisconsin and they were together for sixty-three years. They lived in Hammond, the Twin Cities, Hoffman and then the rest of their lives in Herman. 

Gerald spent three years in the US Army.  He farmed in Hammond with his brothers and worked for Anderson Construction in Hoffman.  When they moved to Herman he worked for the Elevator from which he retired in 2001, and farmed with his son Steve.

He spent most of his retired life gardening and spending time with grandkids and great grandkids.  He loved the outdoors and spending time with family and friends.

Gerald is preceded in death by his parents; son Steven Gardner; three brothers: George, Bob and Tom Gardner.

Gerald is survived by his wife Kathy of Herman; daughters: Vicki Hadler of Herman; Tammie (Perry) Coleman of Dent, MN; and son Tim Gardner of Herman; grandchildren: Kyle Hadler of Morris, MN; Andria (Jacob) Spranger of Elbow Lake, MN; Ashley (Curt) Kerzman of Herman; Craig (Megan-fiancée) Gardner of Alexandria, MN; Katie (Jake) Hunter of Fergus Falls, MN; Eric Gardner of Wendell, MN; Jonathan Coleman of Newark, DE; Suzanne (Michael Rodriguez) Coleman of Robbinsdale, MN; Matthew Hadler of Mahnomen, MN; Tyler Hadler of Detroit Lakes, MN; Nathan (Emily-fiancée) Coleman of Dilworth, MN; twelve great-grandchildren; his sister Alice Hoffman; and sisters-in-law and a brother-in-law.
