Mankato, Minnesota - Gerald "Gerry" Patrick Morris, age 80, of Mankato, passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2026 after a battle with cancer.
Visitation will be held from 5-7pm, Thursday, March 26, 2026 at Mankato Mortuary. Memorial service 2pm, Friday, March 27, 2026 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Mankato with visitation one hour prior. Military honors will be provided by Mankato Area Veterans Memorial Rifle Squad. Burial will follow at Resurrection Lutheran Cemetery in St. Peter. www.mankatomortuary.comGerry was born in Faribault on October 29, 1945 to Marjorie and Everett Morris. He had three siblings, Mike, Marilyn, and Vanessa. Gerry graduated from Faribault High School in 1964. He entered the Air Force in 1965 and served as a nuclear weapons specialist at Incirlik Air Force Base in Turkey.
He married Deborah Joy Sandland on April 12, 1980. Together, they had two children, Danielle and Patrick.
After the service, he built a career at Mankato Honda, specializing in the parts department for more than 40 years.
He was a loving husband and father. He had a lifelong interest in photography, computers, and was passionate about his many hobbies. During his time in the Air Force, he took up scuba diving. In retirement, he enjoyed playing bridge at Vine, riding his e-bike on trails, and volunteering.
Gerry was very intelligent and had a lot of knowledge to share. He also had a good sense of humor, especially for Dad jokes. He was a problem solver and a jack-of-all-trades!
He is survived by his wife, Deb, and their children, Danielle and Patrick Morris; children from a previous marriage, Joshua (Monica) Morris and Jennifer (Todd) Johannson; granddaughter, Cadence Johannson; siblings, Mike Morris, Marilyn Morris Pitt, Vanessa (Dean) Morris Brekke, and Deanna Starzinski; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and relatives in Newfoundland, Canada.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Marjorie and Everett Morris; paternal grandparents, Ralph and Pauline Morris; maternal grandparents, Alfred and Margaret McKay; and brother-in-law, Wayne Pitt.
