Gerald Dale Granum, age 82, of Volga, South Dakota, passed away peacefully on Monday, November 10, 2025. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 am on Friday, November 14, 2025, at First Lutheran Church of Volga, SD. Visitation will start prior to the service from 9:00 am to 10:30 am. Interment will follow out to First Lutheran Cemetery in Volga.

Gerald Granum was born on May 25, 1943, in Volga, South Dakota, to Sylvan and Arlene Granum. On June 21, 1964, he married Kathleen King, and together they built a life filled with love, family, and hard work until her passing in 2022.

Gerald was stationed in Schweinfurt, Germany where he proudly served his country as a tank optics specialist in the US Army. After his military service, Gerald returned home and spent over 40 years as the owner and operator of Granum Trucking, a business he built with dedication and integrity.

Gerald found happiness in the simple pleasures of life-hunting, target practice, and reloading ammunition. He enjoyed brewing craft beer, as well as mowing the lawn and plowing snow with his John Deere tractor. One of his greatest joys was spending time with his children and 13 grandchildren, especially giving them rides on his pontoon on Lake Campbell and cheering them on at their sporting events.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sylvan and Arlene Granum; his wife, Kathi; his daughter, Lynn Grengs; his sister, Sally Roth; his brother, Ron Granum; and Kathi's parents, Donald and Dorothy King

Gerald is survived by his children, Gerry (Gina) of St. Cloud, MN, Jamie (Teresa) of Volga, SD, David (Angie) of Rochester, MN, Darin of Worthing, SD, and son-in-law, Doug Grengs of Brookings, SD, 13 grandchildren, and 8 great-grandchildren, brother, Rick (Dorothy) of Brookings , SD and sister, Judy (Warren) Stokes of Volga, SD.
