Gerald Andrew Humitz, Sr. 87, of Manchester, passed away April 13, 2023. A private ment of ashes will take place at St. Hedwig Cemetery in Dearborn Heights.Jerry's family and friends will gather Friday, April 21, 2023 from 4-7 p.m. at Eineder Funeral Homes - Manchester Chapel. He was born on March 14, 1936, in Dearborn, Michigan to John and Nellie (O'Brien) Humitz. Jerry married the love of his life, Barbara Roffina on October 21, 1961 in Dearborn, Michigan. They had 60 wonderful years together until her passing in 2021. He will be remembered as a loving father, grandfather and great grandfather. Jerry was always involved in his three son's youth athletics. After retiring from Transamerica Insurance, he enjoyed spending time doing custom woodworking. He crafted cradles and cribs for his own grandchildren. Jerry was an active member of Kiwanis International. He will be fondly remembered for his "bad Dad jokes". Jerry will be missed by his three sons; Chip (Beth) Humitz of Plymouth, Mark (Jackie) Humitz of Traverse City, and Greg (Mary) Humitz of Dexter; siblings, Jack Humitz, Joan Odonnell, Ruth (Carl) Meyers and sister-in-law Rose Humitz; grandchildren Dylan Humitz, Patricia Chiado, Cailey Humitz, Andrew Humitz and Ally Humitz; and great grandchildren John Chiado, Piper Chiado and Julian Humitz. He is preceded in death by his wife Barbara, brother Mike Humitz and his parents. Memorial contributions are suggested to Kiwanis International Foundation.
