Gerald W. "Jerry" Jacobs, 89, of Kyle Texas, passed away on August 27, 2025. He was born in Victoria, Texas to the late Richard W. Jacobs and Irene M. Waida on May 18, 1936 and lived there until moving to the Central Texas area in 2007.
He was a graduate of Patti Welder High School and after serving in the U. S. Army, he enjoyed a 37 year career as a buyer with Groce-Wearden Wholesale Grocery Company and Scrivner, Inc. The next 10 years were spent as a Hospital Service Representative for South Texas Blood & Tissue Center and later provided special services to Kett Engineering.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Eleanor "Ellie" Neisser Jacobs on April 27,2024, son Gerald Glenn 'Jake' Jacobs on November 17, 2020, and son-in-law Peter John Grady on October 4, 2021.
He is survived by daughter, Jerilyn Ann Grady of Kyle, Texas and daughter-in-law, Betty Jacobs Headrick of Springfield, Missouri; grandchildren, Peter Jacob Grady and his wife Anisa, Katherine Eleanor Morgan and her husband Jacob, Molly Ann Grady, Riley Thomas Grady, Gracelyn Noelle Grady, Nolyn Brooke Jacobs Weller and her husband Jake, Brayden Payne Jacobs and Carlie Danielle Berry; great-grandaughter, Eden Katherine Morgan. Also cousins, David C. (Sandy) Ostman of College Station; Mark J. (Kathryn) Kucera of Houston and Robert "Bob" (Sandy) Waida of Canyon Lake.
Visitation will be Wednesday, September 3rd, 2024 from 10 –11:00 AM with a service starting at 11:00 AM at Grace Funeral Home at 2401 Houston Highway, Victoria, Texas 77901. A brief graveside service at Memory Gardens ( 8919 US Highway 87 North in Victoria) will immediately follow.
"Poppie" will always be remembered for his funny stories, meticulous record-keeping, listening to polka music on his cell phone, and his incredible love of all things baseball, especially the Houston Astros. We know he will have them "tuned in" from above.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.
