Gerald Jellis Obituary

Obituary
It is with great sorrow to announce the passing of Gerald S. Jellis, or Jerry
(or 'Jello' to some), at the age of 84, on June 15, 2025 (Father's Day).
Jerry is survived by his loving wife Margaret (Peggy) and their 3 daughters
and their families: Laura (children Sarah, Jacob, Amanda, Connor and
Kate), Anne Marie and husband Jason (children Joseph, Kateri, Aidan,
Marina, William, Daniel and Gemma) and Christina and husband
Christopher (children Alex and Briana). All of them shared in his joyful
spirit, jokes and sense of humor. He loved them so very much.
His journey on this earth was one filled with love, devotion, and unwavering
faith in God. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family and
friends. We ask that you remember him not by the way his life ended, but
for the way it was lived, the profound impact it had on the lives of those
who had the pleasure of knowing him, and his everlasting life with Our Lord
in heaven.
While attending Flint Central high school, Jerry's quarterback skills, along
with his teammates of 1958, were recently inducted into the Hall of Fame
for their exceptional performance on the field. His athletic abilities weren't
just football, but basketball and tennis (which he also coached for a while).
The pivotal moment in his life, was when he met the "love of his life", and
fell in love at first sight, to "the most beautiful woman", Margaret (Peggy)
Stefanko.
After his graduation from MSU, Jerry enlisted into the U.S. Army and
became lieutenant (as well as playing football for the Army). Soon after,
Jerry and Peggy were married at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Flushing,
dedication to his faith and family was evident. He worked hard, but made
sure, he had time for his family. He took his family sailing on their boat,
gave his girls a horse, enjoyed water skiing, camping, hunting, fishing, and went
to all the soccer and basketball games of his girls, loved golfing, and was a
master at the grill. Jerry had the best stories to share to whomever would
listen, loved to laugh but most of all, he loved his whole family with all his
heart.
Words cannot express our sorrow for his loss in our lives, but his life carries
on through all of us. He will forever be missed but never forgotten.
May his soul and all the souls of the faithfully departed, rest in peace.

Met Jerry several years ago with the GAFFERS Tuesday golf group. Played several rounds with Jerry and he was competitive and an excellent chipper and putter. We miss his stories and fellowship. Rest in peace my friend.
