Gerald Lee Frady, 81, of Rockford, IL, passed away Sunday, November 19th, 2023 at Javon Bea Hospital in Rockford.
Jerry was born December 21st, 1941 in Chicago, IL, to Marvin Russel and Dorothy Lucille (Romang) Frady. Dorothy remarried later in life to Everett Easterday and she used the last name of Easterday as well.
Jerry graduated from Mount Vernon High School in 1959, studied at the University of Cincinnati, and entered the Army as an ASA specialist during the Vietnam Conflict. He had achieved E-5 specialist rank at time of honorable discharge. He worked for Sears for many years as a repair center technician. Later, he worked in and retired from the printing industry as a printing maintenance technician.
Jerry loved fast cars, especially Corvettes, and lovingly restored a white 1958 vette. He enjoyed collecting and tinkering on antique clocks, or any item that required his devoted attention or an innovative design adjustment. Family genealogy and developing technology were passionate interests and frequent conversation topics.
Jerry was a member of First Baptist Church in Mount Vernon, OH. He served as a deacon until he married his wife, Rebecca Diana (Jenkins) on June 16th, 1984, and relocated to Chicago. Jerry was always grateful for the support of his church family, and held strongly to his faith throughout his life, seeking to honor his Savior and Lord in word and action.
Travel with Rebecca was a favorite weekend past-time. They celebrated their 20th Anniversary by travelling to Italy. Additionally, they made several excursions to the United States’ northwest national parks and local state parks and historic sites.
Jerry was extremely proud of becoming a father late in life to his daughter, Danielle. He was delighted to see her graduate high school and college, marry, and build a family of her own.
Jerry will be deeply missed by his wife; children, Danielle (Ivan) Luna, of IL; grandchildren, Ellie and Mateo Lee; brothers, Dwaine Frady, and Jim (Ruth) Frady; brother-in-law Deke Moffitt and nieces and nephews. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Judy Moffitt.
