Surrounded by his family, Gerald (Jerry) Wenglikowski passed through the gates of Glory peacefully on February 5, 2025, after a short battle with cancer. Born to Chester and Clara Wenglikowski on June 1,1940, Jerry spent his life in Bay City. After finishing his Catholic education, he began working at the bowling alley where he perfected his game and even eventually earned the title of "Joe Bowler". He met and married the love of his life, Louella Duval in October 1961 and they enjoyed 63 years of happiness.
While raising their family, Jerry worked at Federals Department Store and then went on to have a career he loved as a Mechanic with the City of Bay City. He retired early due to health reasons but didn't let that stop him from pursuing his passion, fixing things. Everyone knew that if something was broken, "Jerry could fix it". He loved to tinker on old Wheel Horse tractors, make oak furniture, as well as restore electronics. He enjoyed the challenge of making something old new again. But what he was most passionate about was making sure the people he loved were taken care of.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Louella, children, Steve (Sheri), Ron (Karen), Christine (David) Cabala and Lisa (Lee) Zielinski. Grandchildren Cale & Ella Zielinski, Michael Wenglikowski, Stephanie, Samatha & Jeff (Whitney) Wenglikowski and 3 great grandchildren. Siblings Ronald (Shirley) Wenglikowski, Donald (Jane) Wenglikowski, Bernard Wenglikowski and sister-in-law Loretta Periard. As well as many cherished nieces and nephews whom he always shared advice and wit with whenever they encountered him.
Jerry was a faithful and devout member of the Catholic Church and rarely missed a mass. There is no doubt that he will be greeted into Heaven by The Lord as well as his parents, sister & brother-in-law Maureen (Jay) LaVasseur, sister-in-law Gladys Wenglikowski, son-in-law Wayne Herbolsheimer and others that have gone before him.
Funeral Liturgy will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 12, 2025 at Our Lady of Peace Parish with Rite of Committal following in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will take place at the Gephart Funeral Home on Tuesday, February 11, 2025 from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. The Vigil for the Deceased will take place on Tuesday evening at 7:00 p.m. Jerry will be taken to the church on Wednesday to lie in state from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial contributions to St. Jude’s’s Children’s Research Hospital or Our Lady of Peace Parish.
