Gerald “Mike” Lewis Johnson, 77, of Dresden passed away on March 4, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on February 8, 1949 in Zanesville, Ohio, the son of Clyde Johnson and Elizabeth “Sally” (Nelson) Johnson.
Mike retired from the United States Postal Service as a mechanic after more than 30 years and proudly served his country in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War Era from 1968-1972. He was a devoted husband and father who found his greatest joy in his family. Mike especially cherished his role as a father to his two daughters. Outside of his work and service, he had a deep passion for classic cars, drag racing, and took great pride in restoring his ‘67 Camaro.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his grandparents; his brother, Danny Johnson; his sisters, Vickie Wiggins and Rita Johnson; his mother-in-law, Mary Arnold; his sister-in-law, Tracee Arnold; and his great-nephew, Jakob Driggs.
Mike is survived by his wife, Amy (Arnold) Johnson; his daughters, Maria Johnson and Josey Johnson; his brothers, Terry (Krista) Johnson and David Johnson; his father-in-law, Melvin Arnold; his brothers-in-law, Brent Arnold and James Wiggins; and his sister-in-law, Michele Johnson. He also leaves behind many cherished nieces and nephews, Scott, Amy, Benjamin, Sam, Michael, Jennifer, Chad, Elaine, Trevor, and Marianne, as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews.
Mike will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his service to his country and community, and the many memories he leaves behind with those who knew him.
Friends and family may call from 11:00 A.M. until time of funeral service starting at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, March 10, 2026, at BOLIN-DIERKES FUNERAL HOME, 1271 BLUE AVENUE, ZANESVILLE. Mike will be laid to rest at Dresden Cemetery with Full Military Honors accorded to him by the United States Navy in conjunction with VFW George Selsam Post 1058.
