Gerald "Jerry" Lyle Jolly, 95, of
Alexandria, Kentucky, passed peacefully at his home on January 10, 2026. Jerry was born in
Silver Grove, Kentucky, the only child of Glenn and Kathryn Jolly. His early years were spent in Silver Grove, where he attended Silver Grove High School. There, he excelled in athletics, playing both basketball and baseball, while also working from childhood in his father's grocery store, learning the values of hard work and responsibility at a young age. Jerry dedicated over 65 years to Main Street Baptist Church in Alexandria, where he served in numerous leadership positions and became a beloved example of steadfast Christian faith. His deep relationship with Jesus Christ touched and inspired many in the congregation and beyond. Professionally, Jerry enjoyed a distinguished 30-year career with Western & Southern Life Insurance Company, rising to the role of District Sales Manager. He was consistently recognized as a top performer in sales production, reflecting his dedication, integrity, and strong work ethic.
Before beginning his career, Jerry served honorably in the U.S. Army for two years. Upon returning home, he married the love of his life, Mary Lee. Their marriage was a beautiful testament to enduring love, lasting 65 cherished years until Mary Lee's passing. Jerry was known throughout his life for his witty personality, unwavering Christian faith, and marvelous storytelling ability. He had a gift for bringing joy and laughter to those around him, often sharing tales from his rich experiences with warmth and humor.
He was a devoted husband to Mary Lee for 65 years. Jerry is survived by his three loving children: Barry (Susan) Jolly, Terry (Lisa) Jolly, and Gary (Tracey) Jolly; his grandchildren: Jesiah (Craig) Bertsch, Lacy (Nick) Owen, Whitney (Ryan) Jolly, Lisa Petrey, Brady (Carson) Jolly, Justin (Kristina) Jolly, Taylor (Mason) Kramer, Reid Jolly, and Grant Jolly; and his 22 great-grandchildren, who brought him immense pride and joy in his later years. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Lee, and his parents, Glenn and Kathryn Jolly.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 14, 2026, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Main Street Baptist Church, 11093 Alexandria Pike,
Alexandria, KY 41001. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 15, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Main Street Baptist Church, followed by burial at Alexandria Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Out of Our Hands Foundation, 1097 Racetrack Road,
Alexandria, KY 41001, in Jerry's honor. Jerry lived a full, faithful, and impactful life. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, but his legacy of love, faith, and kindness will live on in the hearts of his family and community forever.
