Gerald Kling Obituary
Gerald C. Kling, of Holland, died peacefully on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at his home in Holland with his devoted family by his side. He was 89.
Born in Philadelphia, he was the beloved husband of the late Marjorie A. Wall Kling and the son of the late William H. and Anna Nichter Kling.
Known to many as "Jerry," he found ways to work and contribute from a young age. He was tenacious, eager to excel, and always willing to help others. As a boy, he collected coins from sewers and returned cans and bottles for deposit refunds. He worked at a produce stand and later learned the trade of an electrician from his brother-in-law, Lawrence.
Jerry's career began at the Philadelphia Arsenal and culminated in his proudest professional accomplishment-serving 38 years in civilian service with DISC-NC (Defense Industrial Supply Center), part of the U.S. Department of Defense. A proud patriot, Jerry volunteered to travel to Vietnam during the war to assist American soldiers with weapon guidance systems and the repair of critical computer equipment. He was honorably discharged from the Army National Guard on November 24, 1963, a recognition he held with great pride.
Jerry was a man of great integrity, discipline, and humility. A proud patriot, he found joy in the simple pleasures of life and cherished time with his family. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, and his love for his family was the heart of who he was. He had many pets throughout his life and a strong affection for dogs. Jerry was an avid animal supporter and contributed generously to numerous animal welfare causes.
He is survived by his brother, Ronald Kling, his sister, Rita Kling Jhangiani, his daughter, Lisa Ann Kling, and his son, Gerald C. Kling Jr. and his wife Denise. He is also survived by his granddaughter, Shanna A. Garland and his great-grandson, Aidan Dorley..
Jerry's Family will receive condolences on Tuesday, August 12th at St. Bede the Venerable Church 1071 Holland Rd. Holland, from 10:00am until his Funeral Mass 11:00 am. Interment will Military Honors will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered for his strength, kindness, sense of duty, and the love he gave so freely to both people and animals alike.
