Gerald Lewis, born on July 8, 1949, in Wichita, Kansas, passed away surrounded by his loved ones on August 18. He was second of four children born to Franklin and Lotha Lewis, where he later on moved to California to further his life.

In 1967, Lewis enlisted in the United States Army where he served a tour in Vietnam in 1968 and was honorably discharged in 1971. Upon his return home, Lewis married the love of his life, Sandra Rae McCallister, on February 27, 1971.

The newlywed couple first settled in Hickman, California, before making Waterford their forever home. Together they raised three daughters- Rebecca, Jaime, and Geri- in the small town which reflected his love for family and simplicity.

Lewis was a man of many talents and passions. He became an avid runner, competing in numerous local and regional races. For fifteen years, he volunteered with the Special Olympics Track and Field Program, where he found joy coaching athletes, especially coaching his daughter, Rebecca. He also loved the outdoors, whether it was hiking, camping, gardening, or working on projects in the backyard. Known for his bright spirit, Lewis often sported vibrant tie-die and carried a lifelong love for the music of The Grateful Dead.

Later on in life, Lewis embraced his role as "papa" to his three grandchildren- Andrue, Damien, and Delilah. Time spent with them became his greatest joy, creating lasting memories filled with love and memories that will be remembered for lifetimes.

Lewis will be remembered for his deep devotion to his family and loved ones. He selflessly cared for both of his parents and two brothers in their later years, and was always willing to go above and beyond to care for and his friends and family.

He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Sandra; daughters Rebecca, Jaime, and Geri; grandchildren Andrue, Damien, and Delilah; his beloved fur child, Olivia; and his son-in-laws, Michael and David.

Gerald Lewis' steadfast love, generosity, and gentle spirit will remain in the hearts of all who knew him and allow memories to forever be embedded in those minds.
