Senior Master Sergeant Gerald Bartholomew London, aged 76, of Mobile, AL, passed away on September 27, 2024. He was affectionately known as Jerry. Jerry's unwavering dedication to the military and his roles as a proud father, brother, grandfather, and cherished friend have left an indelible mark on the community and those close to him.
Jerry, a native of Mobile, Alabama, was born on January 7, 1948, to his late parents, Seymour Richardson and Ella Wells. He was raised by his "late guardian, Louise London, and a community of family and friends.
A Vietnam veteran, Jerry was known for his sense of humor, professionalism, caring nature, and willingness to help others. His 27 years of service in law enforcement in the United States Air Force were a testament to his dedication. He had a keen eye for spotting potential in his airmen, and those airmen speak of his profound impact on their careers and lives to this day. He was described as gifted, sharp, and charming, and his presence naturally commanded attention and respect.
While serving, he was promoted to Master Sergeant on the spot by a 2-star General based on exhibiting exceptional potential beyond his rank.
Jerry retired from the United States Air Force in 1993 after serving 27 years and was a United States postal letter carrier for 20+ years until 2019, serving over 50 years in government services.
If you knew Jerry, you knew four things were true: he had a zest for life, he loved to bowl and go fishing, and he loved his Miller Lite! Jerry had a way of making everyone he encountered feel special, and he expressed those sentiments even in his last days.
He leaves behind his children, Ursula Stallworth, Barry London, Tatiana London, and J'rel London, 16 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, a host of nieces, nephews, and siblings, and his beloved fur baby, Rex.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Neecole London.
A public viewing will be held on Thursday, October 10, from 1 pm to 8 pm at Small's Mortuary West Mobile, 3809 Moffett Road, Mobile, AL 36618.
His life will be celebrated on Friday, October 11, 2024, at Small's Mortuary West Mobile, 3809 Moffett Road, Mobile, AL 36618.. Visitation will be from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm, with the service beginning sharply at noon.

Jerry's legacy of love, quick-witted charm, and resilience will be forever cherished by those who knew him.

My Jerry forever,
I was a compassionate friend of Jerry, as he was to me, we were friends for 21 years, We shared so much!
Jerry and I have so many memories,
Many don't know me, and many do,
. Jerry was a very stern man, with a heart of gold, I will miss you so much, Jerry when I came to visit you and you confessed to me that you had always fought your battle and had always been strong, I can attest to that,
But when you finished our conversation I was so broken because I didn't want to hear that part, but because I cared so much I just went to my car and Prayed that God would grant you your desire, a real jewel that would be missed, but will always be remembered, To his kids your father talked about you all the time he was a very Proud father, and his grandchildren was a bright star in his eyes, by the way, I'm Jackie, I was always his conversation to people that we both knew, To J´rel and his son he would forever talk about you two not to mention his oldest, daughter R.I.P. Our secrets left with him, and I will forever keep them in my heart I Pray that God gives the family peace because you all lost a Real Solider My London Forever
Echo I Love you as well because Jerry always talked about how good you were to him,
Jackie Riley!

I was stationed at Mather AFB, CA with Jerry until 1993. He was an excellent supervisor and friend who always had my back. He pushed me to accomplish tasks I didn't personally think important at the time, but he was right and I appreciated it later on. I wish him God's speed and know I'll see him again guarding the Main Gate to Heavens door. Be Blessed Jerry!

My condolences to the London family. I served with Jerry in the USAF in the early 90´s when we were both stationed Mather AFB, CA., and we´re members of the 323rd Security Police Squadron. Jerry was my immediate supervisor and we were also teammates on the squadron softball team as well as the base over 40 softball team. I learned a lot from Jerry and he was one of my best supervisors. He was a great leader, a great teammate and a great friend. Jerry was one of the good guys and I will miss him. Rest in Peace!
