88, of Narragansett, RI, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2026. He was born on April 28, 1937, in Providence, RI, to the late Thomas F. and Mary Ellen (Haywood) McVicker.
A respected real estate broker and owner of McVicker Realty, he graduated from LaSalle Academy and furthered his education at the University of Miami. There, he not only pursued his studies, but also showcased his athletic prowess on the football field. This early interest in college sports translated into everlasting enjoyment of watching football, particularly as a loyal fan of the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame.
An avid golfer, he cherished the moments spent on the course, surrounded by friends and fellow enthusiasts. Harnessing his passion for golf and his compassion for others, he organized many successful golfing fundraisers at a course he managed in support of organizations that aid disabled children.
Jerry loved the ocean. In his younger years, he was a lifeguard at Old Orchard Beach in Maine. This love of the ocean was lifelong, and spurred him to move to Narragansett, where he and his family lived for decades and where he proudly practiced his real estate business. On many a summer night, he and his wife, Dolores, would park by the seawall, enjoying the sights, sounds, and warmth of the town they loved.
A dedicated husband, Jerry was proud to have shared over 55 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Dolores J. (Derkaz) McVicker, whom he met at a waterside restaurant. Together, they created a loving home and became devoted parents to Michele J. McVicker and Melissa J. McVicker, who along with her husband, Andrew Dickson, continues his legacy of love and commitment. Jerry found immense joy in being a grandfather to Dylan and Jemma Dickson, embracing every opportunity to support and delight in their growth and achievements. He was a fierce advocate and protector of his loved ones, whom he cited as his proudest accomplishments.
He was an incredibly kind human being, selflessly thinking of others much above his own needs. His warmth, generosity, and unwavering commitment left a profound impact upon those he encountered on his 88-year journey. Ever the humble gentleman, Jerry was always grateful and appreciated everything and everyone. “They broke the mold when they made your dad,” was a frequent refrain heard by his family.
Gerald F. McVicker will be remembered fondly for his dedication to family, his professional achievements, and his enduring spirit. In turn, he was adored and loved.
He will be missed more than words can express.
His funeral will be held on Saturday, February 7, 2026 at 10am from the NARDOLILLO FUNERAL HOME & Crematory – SOUTH COUNTY CHAPEL, 1111 Boston Neck Road, (Rt. 1A), Narragansett followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11am in the Christian Brothers Center, 635 Ocean Road, Narragansett.
