Gerald “Gerry” Edward Moser, 90, of Toddville, Iowa, passed away peacefully on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at St. Luke’s Transitional Care Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The family will greet friends from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4, 2026, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, Iowa. A Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Center Point Road Church of Christ, located at 3264 North Center Point Road in Marion. Rev. Art Willis will officiate. Burial with military honors will follow at Dunkard Cemetery in Midway, Iowa.
Gerry was born on July 12, 1935, in Edgewood, Iowa, the son of Lester and Fern (Gieck) Moser. He was a man of dedication, resilience, and passion, whose life was marked by service, hard work, and a deep appreciation for the simpler pleasures in life. While still in school, he worked diligently as a farmer. This hands-on experience would serve him well in his later years. Gerry's commitment to service began early in his life when he proudly served as a Paratrooper in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956. Only Gerry Moser would jump out of a perfectly good airplane. He took immense pride in his military service, carrying out the values he learned throughout his life. Following his honorable discharge, Gerry transitioned into a career that showcased his strong work ethic and adaptability. He worked for Link Belt FMC before embarking on an adventurous chapter as a cross-country semi driver, a role that he embraced, until his well-deserved retirement.
On February 14, 1978, Gerry was united in marriage to Kathryn “Kathy” Elizabeth Fair in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was a member of the Center Point Road Church of Christ, the Toddville American Legion, and the Otter Creek Lions Club. Gerry had a number of interests that brought joy to his everyday life, including snowmobiling, riding horses, watching Westerns, and playing board games. He was also an avid card player, often seen engaging in ‘friendly’ competition (ha-ha). An enthusiastic lover of the outdoors, his absolute favorite pastime was mowing lawns, where he found satisfaction in maintaining beauty and order in the world around him. Gerry’s legacy lives on in the hearts of those whose lives he touched, imparting lessons of kindness, dedication, and the joys that come from the simplest of pastimes. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
Gerry is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 48 years, Kathy Moser of Toddville; six children, Gary (Karla) Moser of Blue Springs, Missouri, Greg (Chris) Moser of Center Point, Iowa, Gene (Deanna) Moser of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Galond (Stacey) Moser of Waubeek, Iowa, Kitty (Steve) Teufel of Robins, Iowa, and Delilah (Jim Ferring) Kramme of Toddville; eleven grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; sister, Carolyn (Jim) Johnson of Plano, Texas; brother, Carl Moser; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Sherri Moser; brother, Bruce Moser; granddaughter, Candice Moser; and son-in-law, Scott Kramme.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Gerry’s memory can be directed to the Center Point Road Church of Christ, the Toddville American Legion, or the Otter Creek Lions Club.
