Gerald Mucciante Obituary

Published by A.H. Peters Funeral Home - Grosse Pointe Woods on May 4, 2017.
Jerry Anthony Mucciante was born in Detroit on September 1, 1951 the son of Anthony Mucciante and Ida D'Angelo. Jerry was diagnosed with Stage 4 Small Cell Liver/Lung Cancer in Early April 2017 and Passed away on May 4, 2017. Jerry was married to Joanna Mucciante and raised two son together, Anthony and Aaron. They lived together happily and joyfully for 32 years before Jerry's Passing. Jerry had two older sisters Emily and Elaine, and one younger brother Tim. His two sisters Emily and Elaine were always his "Older Sisters" and made sure they would keep him in line. His Brother Tim was always the youngest. They took care of one another and had a love that was ever ending. Jerry (My Father) was a kind-hearted, loving, selfless and relaxed man. Through his years he taught me numerous lessons, how to ride a bike, how to cook spaghetti, where to find the best cookie and donuts in Detroit, but most of all, how to love one another and treat everyone with respect. My father was a extremely giving and charitable man, he would give the shirt off of his back to any stranger that needed one. He proved to me that good things may not always come to good people, but for those who have patience and strive to be their best, will overcome all evil in this world. It did not matter to him your race, gender, religious background, sexuality or political view, he saw you for who you were, a human. Jerry loved his family, friends, sweet treats, and Italian food. Finding the best cinnamon roll or coffee cake was always a adventure for him. Showing up with a dozen cinnamon rolls and 3 coffee cakes would not be a surprise to any of us. He enjoyed watching old films (all in black and white) after all he was color blind. He also enjoyed his Three Stooges, quoting them every day from "Why I Oughta" to "Wise Guy Uh?" this was who he was. His laugh, comedy and goofiness spread wide with out family. I can tell you from personal experience that we had developed our own language that we would speak in front of everyone, yes people thought we were crazy. Overall, Jerry has the biggest heart and the deepest soul of any man. His legacy and character will be carried through his family for the rest of their lives. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave., at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. His funeral will be held on Monday at noon at the Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 20450 Civic Center Drive, Southfield, MI 48076.

I am so sad to hear of Gerald's passing. I am also sad that I was not able to attend the funeral as I am just hearing today.

Please accept my personal sympathy as well as those volunteers he was able to know the short time he was a volunteer (Guiding Star) here at the hospital.
