The family of Mr. Gerald Gonzales Narbaez Sr. “Jerry” 62 of Lubbock will host a memorial service at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 31, 2026, at The Hodges Community Center (4011 University, Lubbock, Texas 79413). A luncheon will follow the memorial service until 2:00 p.m.

On the afternoon of Wednesday, January 21, 2026, Gerald went to be with the Lord. He was born on July 18, 1963, to the late David and Paula Narbaez in Lubbock. A proud graduate of Odessa High School in 1982, he was known for his humor and the biggest smile that could brighten the darkest days. Later in life in 2002 he met the love of his life Emily Howell they were married on May 5, 2008, in Lubbock, cherishing twenty-five loving years together.

His faith was paramount in his life; he treasured God above all, passionately sharing his beliefs by bringing others to God. He found solace in reading the Bible and actively participated in Bible study, weaving faith into the fabric of his daily existence.

Gerald dedicated his professional life as a Restaurant Manager at Bless Your Heart Restaurant, where his co-workers knew him as “Chewy” as they’re own special inside joke. His infectious laughter and warm demeanor lit up the dining experience for countless patrons.

Gerald was a man of many passions. He had an ardent love for fishing and spent countless days under the sun, casting lines and creating memories with family and friends. His enthusiasm for sports was infectious; he loved watching football, passionately cheering for the Texas Longhorns, and was a devoted fan of the Texas Rangers baseball team. Gerald also enjoyed playing softball, effortlessly blending competition with camaraderie. His love for cars, especially Ford Mustangs, was a significant part of his identity. When it came to snacks and food, he embraced the simple pleasures in life, which often included gathering with loved ones over delicious meals.

A true family man, Gerald's family was his pride and joy, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Especially his grandchildren who fondly knew him as "Pa" and "Gramps." Gerald had a love language centered around giving. He demonstrated his affection vividly through thoughtful gestures, always ensuring his beloved wife Emily felt special and cherished. He was a caring friend as well, making certain that his friend was comfortable, ensuring he had a blanket and praying with him while enduring dialysis.

Gerald’s memory will continue to inspire those who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy filled with love, laughter, and unwavering faith, reminding us all to cherish our time together and to always find joy in life’s moments.

Gerald brought immense joy to the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing him.

He is preceded in death by his Parents; a son Raymond Hernandez; nephew Joel Narbaez; numerous aunts and uncles.

Survived by his Wife Emily Narbaez of Lubbock; sons Gerald Narbaez Jr. and wife Jessica, Armando Hernandez and James Hernandez all of Lubbock; a daughter Danelle and husband Michael Smith of Lubbock; five brothers John Narbaez and wife Stephanie of Lubbock, Jamie Narbaez of Lubbock, Joel Narbaez Sr. and wife Jeanie of Lubbock, Jason Narbaez of Lubbock and Jeffery Narbaez and wife Cynthia of McAllen; twenty-two grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
