Gerald "Jerry" P. Nemetz, aged 82, passed away on January 2, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born on May 24, 1942, in Cleveland, OH, Jerry was a man of integrity, warmth, and unwavering commitment to his loved ones.
Jerry was the beloved husband of Jacqueline Nemetz, with whom he shared 55 years of marriage filled with devotion, laughter, and countless cherished memories. He was a loving father to his children, Tammi Wargo (John), Tina Disbrow (William), Mick Nemetz, and Tommy Nemetz (Adrienne). Jerry was the son of the late Paul and Gertrude Nemetz and a caring brother to Linda Piersante (Joseph), Tom Nemetz (Colleen), and the late Beverly Krutilla (Mike; surviving).
His legacy continues through his adoring grandchildren, John (Crystal), Daniel (Tatyana), Maria (Jacob), Nicole, Celena (Matt), Taylor, Mikayla (Jimmy), Kyler, Zack, Luke, Caleb, and Noah. Jerry also embraced the joy of being a great-grandfather to Madison, Gavin, Dominic, Jaxson, Finley, Palmer, Nico, and Charlotte.
Jerry proudly served his country as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, a chapter of his life that shaped his character and instilled in him a sense of duty and honor. After his military service, he embarked on a successful career with AT&T, where he dedicated 33 years before retiring. His colleagues remember him as a reliable and hardworking individual who brought both professionalism and camaraderie to the workplace.
Beyond his professional achievements, Jerry was a man of many passions. He had a particular fondness for his classic Corvette, which was more than a car to him; it was a symbol of his love for craftsmanship and the open road. However, his true joy was found in the time he spent with his wife, Jacqueline. Jerry adored her above all else, and their partnership was a testament to mutual respect and love.
Jerry's life was a reflection of the values he held dear: family, service, and his commitment to the chapel at St. Albert the Great. He approached every day with a sense of purpose and a desire to make a positive impact on those around him. His warm smile, generous heart, and the stories he shared will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
