Gerald Grandon Norman, age 85, of
Starke, Florida passed away peacefully on February 12, 2026, at his residence with his loving sons by his side. He was born in
Starke, Florida on October 7, 1940, to the late Tullie Grandon Norman and Winifred Louise McRae Norman. A lifelong resident of Bradford County, Gerald graduated from Bradford High School in 1958. Shortly after graduation, he joined United States Air Force and proudly served four years. During his time in the Air Force, he served as an airman specializing in airplane mechanic-skills that would lay the foundation for his long and successful career with the Army National Guard. Gerald was deeply proud of his country and openly displayed his patriotism throughout his life. Following his honorable discharge, Gerald met the love of his life, Annette Estelle Padgett. They were united in marriage on March 3, 1968, and shared 54 wonderful years together. Their marriage was blessed with three sons and six cherished grandchildren, who were the pride and joy of his life. Gerald was a devoted family man who treasured time spent with his loved ones, especially his grandchildren. He enjoyed a long and fulfilling career as a Mechanic at Camp Blanding, where he worked faithfully for over 30 years. Outside of work, he loved traveling to the mountains and creating sweet memories with his family. He was truly a treasure and will be deeply missed by who knew him. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife, Annette Estelle Padgett Norman; sisters, Helen Sapp and Dorothy Eggers; and brothers-in-law, Eldon Sapp, Bernard "Barney" Eggers, Kenneth Padgett, and Elwood Padgett; sister-in-law, Catherine Sapp; and great grandson, Cohen Hanson.
Gerald is survived by his three sons, Chester D. (Angela) Norman of
Newberry, FL, Timothy C. (Karen) Norman of
Jacksonville, FL, and Wesley A. (Karen) Norman of
Lake Butler, FL; six grandchildren, Austin, Alex (Makala), Audrey, Rachel (Eli), Rosalea, and Rebekah; and many extended family members and friends.
A Celebration of Gerald's Life will be held on Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 11:00 am at the First Baptist Church of Starke with Dr. Patrick Martin and Brother Harry Hatcher officiating. Interment will follow at Crosby Lake Cemetery where military honors will be rendered. The family will receive friends on Saturday, February 21, 2026, an hour prior to the service at the church.
