Age 92, of Warsaw, passed away on December 5, 2025, at the Wyoming County Skilled Nursing Facility in Warsaw.
He was born on November 23, 1933, in Warsaw, son of the late Reuben and Loraine Charles Pfeifer. Gerry was a graduate of Warsaw Central School, class of 1951. He went on to get his associates degree at SUNY Morrisville in 1953 before proudly serving in the U.S. Army from 1954-1956. After returning from the service Gerry would marry his wife of sixty-three years, Beverly Kingston. Gerry worked for thirty-five years with Moog Inc. in East Aurora as a quality control supervisor, retiring in 1997. In 1968, Gerry had the privilege of representing Moog Inc. at the launch of Apollo 8 at Cape Kennedy, FL (now Cape Canaveral). He also had his name inscribed in the “Lunar Roll of Honor” on the moon. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Warsaw as well as the Masonic Lodge in Warsaw, where he recently reached the sixty-five-year membership milestone. Gerry was also a member of the Scottish Rite Consistory in Coudersport, PA. He served on the Town of Warsaw Zoning Board of Appeals, the Wyoming County Planning Board and was president of the Warsaw Cemetery Association for many years. In his free time, Gerry enjoyed fishing, playing poker with the guys, reading, and feeding the birds.
Along with his parents, Gerry is predeceased by his wife, Beverly Pfeifer; his sister, Maxine Hotchkiss and his son-in-law, Scott Wheeler.
He’s survived by his daughters, Leigh (Paul) Gardner of Herndon, VA, Tracy Wheeler of Prattsburg, NY; his brother, Paul (Cheryl) Pfeifer of Highland, CA; his grandchildren, Nicholas (Michelle) Wheeler, Brittany (Joe) McKerlie, Patrick Gardner, Shane (Jennifer) Gardner; his great-granddaughter, Emily Gardner; many nieces and nephews.
Services for Gerry will be held in the spring at a date to be determined. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Warsaw Public Library, 130 North Main St., Warsaw, NY 14569 or the First United Methodist Church of Warsaw, 6 West Court St., Warsaw, NY 14569.
