Gerald Francis Prestenbach, Sr., a proud and dedicated man, known by all as "Pete" passed away peacefully at the age 92 on Thursday, June 27, 2024 at his home in Morgan City, Louisiana, surrounded by his loving family. Pete a lifelong resident of St. Mary Parish was born December 21, 1931. One of eight children to the late Clarence, Sr. and Beulah Chiasson Prestenbach.
Pete proudly served in The United States Air Force, attaining the rank of Staff Sargent. He also spent 26 years as an owner/operator of PBM Truck Repair and was a respected member of this community.
He is survived by his loving wife of 40 years, Gertrude Acosta Prestenbach with Stepdaughters, Gwendolyn (Glen) Hidalgo, Bayou Vista, La. Belinda (Jules) Arceneaux, Morgan City, La. Lisa (David) LaCombe, Youngsville, La. His Children, April Prestenbach, Baton Rouge, La., Bridgett (Brad) Daigle, Morgan City, La., Dawn (Spalding) Dupuis, Belle River, La., Jerry Prestenbach (Theresa Haigler) of Maurepas, La., also a host of grandchildren and great grandchildren, his sister Janice Prestenbach Grizzaffi, Morgan City, La.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence Prestenbach, Sr., mother, Beulah Chiasson Prestenbach, his daughter, Carmen Prestenbach Cagle, Brothers, Sisters and Grandchildren.
Those honored to serve as pallbearers are his grandsons Justin Arceneaux, Ryan LaCombe, Rhett LaCombe, grandsons-in-law, TJ Gros, Chris Bennett and great grandson, Sport Gros. Also serving as honorary pallbearers are his great grandsons, Eli Gros & Trey Gros.
A gathering of family and friends will be held Wednesday, July 3rd at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Morgan City, La. from 9:00AM until 11:00AM, with a Mass of Christian Burial to be held at 11:00AM. Graveside service with Military Honor will be held in the Morgan City Cemetery Mausoleum following the mass.
