Joyce Funeral Home - WalthamMr. Gerald “Jerry” Scott Presti, of Waltham, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at Newton Wellesley Hospital. He was 64.
Born on January 4, 1961, in Waltham, Jerry was the cherished son of Alice (Witt) Presti and the late Joseph P. Presti. A proud native of Waltham, he grew up in the city and graduated from Waltham High School, where his quick wit and strong personality left a lasting impression.
Jerry was a man of many passions and talents. As a dedicated Director of Quality Assurance in the pharmaceutical industry, he brought precision, integrity, and leadership to his work, ensuring the highest standards in his field. Beyond his professional achievements, Jerry’s heart, beat to the rhythm of music. An accomplished drummer, he poured his soul into every beat. His time as a roadie for legendary Boston bands and large acts alike, filled his life with unforgettable stories and connections to the music world he so loved.
Jerry’s intellectual vigor shone through as a political enthusiast and renowned debater, always ready with an intellectual argument or a spirited discussion that could captivate a room. Jerry was an avid reader, he felt most at home within the pages of his books. He also wrote poetry, prose and songs, all of which were the truest expression of his heart, mind and spirit.
He leaves his mother, Alice (Witt) Presti of Waltham; his daughter, Shayla Presti of Waltham; his son, Derek Presti (Isamar) of Rialto, California; his grandchildren, Sofia Mazzella, Nina Mazzella, Belial Mazzella, Benedetto Presti and Lorenzo Agradano.
Family and friends will honor and celebrate Gerald’s remarkable life by gathering for an Evening Wake at The Joyce Funeral Home, 245 Main Street (Rte. 20), Waltham, on Friday, September 5th, from 4 to 7 p.m. His Graveside Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, September 6th, in Mount Feake Cemetery, Waltham.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to MSPCA Boston.
