GERALD RADFORD 11/18/1939 - 07/20/2025 Gerald Wendell Radford, 85, of Brownwood, Texas, passed away peacefully, on Sunday, July 20, 2025. He was a cherished husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Wendell was born on November 18, 1939, in Gorman, Texas, to J.C. Radford and Vivian Buckmaster. After serving honorably in the U.S. Army, Wendell became a beloved member of the Ballinger community in 1962, where he owned Radford Body Shop, then Radford Locksmith, for many years. Known for his gentle spirit and humble heart, Wendell touched countless lives through his quiet acts of service and kindness. On February 16, 2001, he married the love of his life, Dora Rios Radford, in Brownwood, Texas, and became a farmer. Together, they shared a life full of love, laughter, and giving. Wendell found joy in life's simple pleasures. He was an avid gardener, hunter, fisherman, and cook. He had a deep appreciation for all wildflowers and the beauty of the natural world. Beyond his own family, Wendell was known as "Papa" to several adopted grandchildren who he loved immensely and helped care for over the years. He is preceded in death by his parents, J.C. and Vivian Radford, and one great-granddaughter, Ella. Wendell is survived by his loving wife, Dora Radford; his daughter, Vivian Boswell and husband Matt of Brownwood, Texas; his son, Gerald Wendell Radford Jr and wife Erin of Allen, Texas; grandchildren Kimberly Boswell, Brandon Boswell, and Gracie Boswell of Brownwood, Texas, and Eleanor Radford, Quinton Radford, and Lillian Radford of Allen, Texas; and great-granddaughter Paisley Boswell of Brownwood, Texas. Wendell is also survived by his 10 beloved stepchildren, 7 step-grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, all of whom he cherished deeply. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt gratitude to Interim Hospice, especially Alisha, Debbie, Melissa, and Letisha, as well as Dr. Ranjana Nigalye, for their compassionate care during Wendell's final days. A memorial service was held on Friday, July 25, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the First Christian Church of Ballinger, with Lynn Smith and David King officiating. The family invites everyone to join them for refreshments following the service to share stories of Wendell and enjoy a time of fellowship.
