Gerald Roberson Obituary

Gerald David Roberson, at the age of 88, entered eternal rest peacefully on Sunday afternoon, April 16, 2023. He was born in Jasper, Tennessee on November 26, 1934, to Arthur Roberson and Mable Blevins Roberson. He is survived by his loving wife, Sylvia John Roberson, of 53 years, who he adored; his stepdaughter, Linda Blankenship Moskau, and stepson, Kenneth Blankenship. Gerald was the proud grandfather of John Duke (Tina), Kenny Blankenship, Trina Blankenship, and Rodrigo Blankenship (Logan), and step-great grandfather of Jadi Hartman (Todd), and step-great great grandfather of Aubrey Folse. Gerald was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Mable Roberson. A native of Jasper, Tennessee, and proud resident of Mandeville for 19 years, Gerald graduated from high school in 1952. After high school, Gerald proudly joined the United States Coast Guard and defended the United States in the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged from the USCG on September 1, 1972. He was a devoted member to the Grand Lodge Masons of the State of New York. After retiring from the USCG, he moved to the New Orleans area in 1973 where he worked for Lykes Brothers Co., he worked one year in Saudi Arabia for the J. Ray McDermott Co., and later, permanently retired from The Port of New Orleans. He loved the game of golf! He worked for Chateau Country Club, Ormond Country Club, and most recently, Covington Country Club as a Starter. Gerald was unique and is irreplaceable, loved, had a great sense of humor, and will be dearly and deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, including his beloved Grand Dog, Muffin. He will remain in the many happy and humorous memories of his cherished family. The Roberson family expresses their deepest gratitude to the outstanding care provided by Compassus Hospice. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the Visitation at E. J. Fielding Funeral Home, 2260 W 21st Avenue, Covington Louisiana on Saturday, April 22, 2023, from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM.
