Gerald Lewis Robinson, born on September 13, 1957, in the vibrant city of Chicago, Illinois, departed this world on January 10, 2026, at the age of 68, surrounded by love at his residence. Gerald was a man of many talents, described by those who knew him as a "jack of all trades, master of most (maybe some)." His unwavering work ethic was evident throughout his life as he took on various roles, primarily as a funeral attendant, and embraced any opportunity to earn a living.
Gerald's educational journey began at Dvorak Elementary and culminated at Spaulding High School in Chicago. It was here that he developed his outgoing, funny, kind, and outspoken personality. He never met a stranger, and his warmth drew people in, creating bonds that would last a lifetime.
A proud member of the Rose of Sharon Baptist Church in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, Gerald accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized at Wesley Chapel in Chicago. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, guiding him with strength and purpose.
Throughout his years, Gerald had a profound love for music, often found enjoying live performances during "live after five" events, mingling with friends and family. His ability to connect with others and share laughter always brightened the atmosphere around him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Beverly Paul Robinson; his cherished children, Deonta Robinson, Latrice Robinson, and Trinity Angela Chanel; and his brothers, Dewayne (Felicia) Gray, Eugene Riley, and Donell (Hazel) Conell. Gerald's legacy continues through his beloved sisters, Jasmaine Riley, Venus Riley, and Stephanie Williams. He also leaves behind stepchildren Gregory (Kim) Paul, Reco (Leshantah) Paul, Frederick (DeShon) Paul, Eugene (Tray) Paul, and Marcus (Jaleesa) Paul, as well as five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren, all of whom were a source of pride and joy in his life.
Gerald was deeply affected by the loss of his parents, Mildred Riley and Henry Gray, and those who raised him as their own, Annie and Joseph Shephard. He also mourned the passing of his brother, Marshall Gray. These loved ones will be remembered fondly, as they played significant roles in shaping the remarkable man Gerald became.
As we gather to celebrate the life of Gerald Lewis Robinson, we invite family and friends to join us for a viewing on January 23, 2026, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11:00 AM, held at the Rose of Sharon Baptist Church, located at 312 Old Rafe Mayer Rd, Baton Rouge, LA 70807. Gerald will be laid to rest in Resting Place Memorial Garden.
In remembering Gerald, we honor a life filled with laughter, hard work, and an unfaltering spirit that brought happiness to those around him. He leaves behind a legacy of love that will continue to inspire and uplift all who had the privilege of knowing him.
