Gerald Skinner Sr. 1935 ~ 2025
On Saturday November 8, 2025, Gerald Skinner Sr passed away peacefully at Lighthouse Assisted Living in Ocean Springs. A celebration of life will be held at Bradford-O’Keefe Funeral Home on Howard Avenue in Biloxi on Saturday, November 15, 2025 with visitation from 11:00 am followed by a service at noon and burial at Biloxi City Cemetery at 1:00 pm. Gerald was a lifelong Gulf Coast resident, an avid fisherman and builder of literally everything.
Gerald is preceded in death by his parents, Manuel Skinner Sr and Bertha Fryou Skinner; brothers, Manuel Jr, Roland, Edwin and Nathaniel; and his loving wife of 66 years, Anna June Skinner. He is survived by his sister, Birdie Mae Skinner Nell; children, Jerry (Tammy), Larry (Linda) and Robin May (Mickey); grandchildren, Trini Skinner Uhlmann, Brandy Hill, Misty Bowman, Miki Zimmerman, Magen Patterson, Kelsey May and Lauren Skinner; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Growing up on The Point in Biloxi he was very active in boat building and the seafood industry. His career included carpentry, pipefitter supervisor at Ingalls on submarines and his passion as a charter boat captain. Building from the keel up he operated the Chandeleur Charter Boat Kingfish as owner and captain touching fanatic fishermen that soon became lifelong friends. He was an active member of the Mississippi Charter Boat Captains Association and the Coastal Conservation Association. He also loved him some Ole Miss Rebels, Mississippi State Bulldog and New Orleans Saints football.
After a lifetime of living on St Martin Bayou he spent the past year at Lighthouse Assisted Living in Ocean Springs. The family would like to express our forever appreciation to the staff, nurses and housekeepers there for the excellent service, care and comfort shown. Special shout out to Lana, thanks for all and the patience with us!
