Linda Williams Newsome was born on March 17, 1960, in
Laurel, MS, to the late Aubrey C. Williams, Sr. and Bettye Sue Williams. She was a faithful member of Sweet Hope Baptist Church in
Laurel, MS. Linda was a proud graduate of Robert E. Lee High School in
Baton Rouge, LA and continued her education at Alcorn State University in Lorman, MS, where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree.
Throughout her life, Linda dedicated herself to serving others and uplifting the community. She taught at Popps Ferry Elementary School in
Biloxi, MS for seven years. She later worked with the Boys and Girls Club of America at Nichols Middle School location for six years, where she positively impacted on the lives of many young people. Linda also served as a Switchboard Operator at the Imperial Palace Resort and Spa in
Biloxi, MS. Linda enjoyed fellowship, celebration, and community spirit. She was a faithful and dedicated member of the Second Liners Mardi Gras Club of
Biloxi, MS. Linda Newsome passed away Saturday, February 28, 2026 in
Gulfport, MS at the age of 65.
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Aubrey C. Williams, Sr. and Bettye Sue Williams, sister, Felicia A. Williams, sister-in-law, Robin Williams, grandparents, Mr. Joe and Lizzie Eades and aunt, Dorothy Wilson.
She leaves to cherish her memories forever, a loving and faithful husband of thirty-seven years, until death they did part: Albert E. Newsome, Sr. of
Gulfport, MS; two sons: Albert (LaShonda) E. Newsome, Jr. of
Grovetown, GA and A C (Patrai) Newsome of
Gulfport, MS; one daughter: Tisha (Harvey) Davis of
Gaithersburg, MD; two brothers: Dr. Aubrey C. Williams, Jr. of
Baton Rouge, LA and Dr. Willie G. (April) Williams of
Morristown, TN; her twin sister: Brenda W. Lott of
Biloxi, MS; four aunts: Mazie (Tony) Andrews and Nina Johnson both of
Laurel, MS and Jaycelyn Bailey of Heidelberg, MS and Kim (C J) Jackson of
Laurel, MS; one uncle: Joe Edward (Sarah) Eades of
Lakewood, CA; two brothers-in-law: Dr. Timothy (Terra) A. Newsome of
Cameron, NC and Keith (Lorena) E. Newsome of
Brandon, FL; seven sisters-in-law: Shirley M. Cox of Memphis, TN, Katie M. Green of
Gulfport, MS, Deloris (Rev. Dr. Albert Jr.) Parker of Perkinson, MS, Betty J. (Kenneth) Hill, Carolyn I. Newsome and Anita E. Newsome both of
Gulfport, MS and Barbara A. Neely of Alexandria, VA; twelve grandchildren; two great grandchildren; a dedicated care-giver and friend: Essie Hunter; a special friend: Phyllis Owens; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
