Gerald D. Slattery, Jr., age 78, of Newtown Square, PA, passed away on October 16, 2025. Born on April 17, 1947 in New York City, he was the son of the late Frances H. (nee Heffernan) and Gerald D. Slattery, Sr.
Gerald was the beloved husband of Adrianne D. Slattery (nee Doyle) for 55 wonderful years; loving father of Gerald D. Slattery, III, Tara M. Pisani (Craig), and Moira S. Metzler; adoring Papa of Matthew, Megan, Kelly, and Emily; caring brother of Tish S. Beauregard (Kevin). “Uncle Hunk” is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Born and raised in New York City he went to Xavier High School. He treasured his time there and remained active in their alumni association until his death. After graduation he attended Villanova University where he was part of their Naval ROTC and served his country upon graduation. A true patriot, his Naval service was a very important part of his life.
A lifelong fan of all things sports, he was very active in Radnor/Wayne Little League when his children were younger and instrumental in merging the leagues when he was Commissioner. He also loved serving as an official at the Penn Relays every year. Some of his fondest memories are also playing golf with friends at Overbrook Golf Club. NCAA basketball, especially his beloved Villanova Wildcats will miss their biggest fan.
Devoted to his work truly until the time of his passing, Gerry worked in the pipe and tubing industry for over 50 years. He cultivated numerous business relationships with some of those turning into lifelong friendships. Gerry’s hard work was recognized in 2019 when he received the IDP Award of Excellence for his service to the industry. It was an honor that was rightly earned and celebrated.
Those who knew him best will remember his love for cooking, travel, music and entertaining. Spirited conversation and laughs were always on the menu. Everyone always left with full stomachs and full hearts. He will be greatly missed.
Family and friends are invited to Gerald’s Visitation 9:30-11:00 AM on Monday, October 27, 2025 at St. John Neumann Church, 380 Highland Ln, Bryn Mawr, PA 19010, followed by his Funeral Mass at 11:00 AM. Interment Private.
