Gerald Wayne Smith, age 49, of Louisville, Kentucky, left this world on Monday, January 20, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love and kindness.
Born on March 23, 1975, in Louisville, he was the cherished son of Joy Smith and the late David Smith. Gerald was a devoted son, brother, nephew, cousin, and friend. He had an infectious smile and a passion for life that drew people to him. Whether he was spending time with his little brother watching movies, cheering for his beloved Kentucky Wildcats or Cincinnati Bengals, or enjoying the peacefulness of fishing, Gerald lived life to its fullest. His enormous heart was evident in the countless ways he touched the lives of everyone he met.
Gerald is survived by his loving mother, Joy Smith, and his brothers, David and Justin Smith. He will be lovingly remembered by his grandmother, Barbara Austin; aunts, Belinda Sanders and Diane Mefford; cousins, Maria (Tony) Click, Steven Fortner; and second cousins, Kaitlyn (Jeremy) Fortner, Christopher (Corina) Fortner, Aaron Fortner, Jaden Click, Jalen Click, along with many other extended family members and friends who will continue to cherish his memory.
He will be profoundly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing and loving him.
Visitation for Gerald will be held on Friday, January 30, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. A Funeral Service will immediately follow at 1:30 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Louisville Chapel, with burial at Evergreen Cemetery in Louisville, Kentucky.
