He was born April 21, 1943 in Dayton, the son of the late Emil and Margaret (Zimmer) Stammen.
Jerry served his country in the United States Navy and then returned to Ohio where he was a jack of all trades and self-employed in various areas around Ohio. Indian Lake always held a special place with Jerry, beginning with trips there as a kid all the way through his life as a homeowner on the lake, and he valued the many friends he made around the lake over the years. An avid outdoorsman, Jerry enjoyed hunting as well as fishing locally and his annual Canadian fishing trip.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Dave, Jim, and Arnold; a sister, Patricia Cherry; and the mother of his children, Judith Swart. Survivors include two children, Brett (Missi) Stammen of Vandalia, Amber Stammen (Stu Moats) of Yellow Springs; grandson, Adler Stammen; step-grandson, Landen Moats; two brothers, Tim and Joe Stammen; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
A memorial service will he held on Thursday August 8, 2024 at 6:00 P.M. at the Belton-Stroup Funeral Home, 422 E. Dayton-Yellow Springs Rd., Fairborn, Pastor H. Wesley Barnhill officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 P.M. until the time of service at the funeral home.
