Moody Funeral Services Inc - StuartMr. Gerald Wayne Stegall, Sr., age 86 of Meadows of Dan, passed away Saturday, October 18, 2025 at his home. He was born on May 20, 1939 in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina to the late James Brown Stegall and Retha Bridgers Stegall. In addition to his parents, Mr. Stegall was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Eleanor Ann Philpott Stegall. He retired from Duke Energy as an Electrical Engineer. Mr. Stegall was honorably discharged as a sergeant in the Army National Guard in North Carolina. He was a man of few words, but when he spoke, he captured the crowd’s attention. He was a do-it-himself handyman who could do anything he set his mind to. He also had a love for photography and developing his photos. He was a loving father, and loved camping and traveling around the country with his wife, Ann.
Mr. Stegall is survived by a son, Wayne Stegall of Meadows of Dan, VA; a daughter, Elizabeth Ann Niece (Jerry Wayne) of Virginia Beach; a sister, Elaine Powell (Ray) of Sandy Level; two nieces, Cindy Atwater of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Lynn Mabry of Rougemont, North Carolina; and a nephew, Mike Philpott of Durham, North Carolina.
A memorial service for Mr. Stegall will be held Saturday, November 8, 2025 at 12:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home in Stuart with Pastor Joe Young officiating. Burial will be private. The family will receive friends one hour after the service at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent by visiting www.moodyfuneralservices.com.
