Gerald Stuchell Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Jun. 28 to Jul. 3, 2023.
It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Gerald D. "Jerry" Stuchell at his home in Millinghausen, Germany.

The fifth son of James Edward and Lena Love (Hollopeter) Stuchell, he was born in Punxsutawney on February 26, 1944.

Jerry was a 1962 graduate of Punxsy High School, where he was an outstanding running back on the football team.

In 1966 he graduated from Thiel College, Greenville, and then studied in Germany for one year where he also married. Returning to the U.S., he graduated from the University of Georgia, receiving a Doctorate in 1968. He then returned to Germany taking a position as an English professor. His first marriage welcomed two daughters. Jerry married a second time to Hannelore Kohler, a union that brought forth two daughters and a son.

He will be remembered by his wife and five children: Vivian, Mareike, Frederike, Wiebke, and Max. Eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren also survive.

His three surviving brothers are: James (Marie) Williamsport; John (Carol) DuBois); and Ronald (Darlene) Punxsutawney. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother William.

Funeral services were held in Millinghausen.
